Standard #7: Planning for Instruction.
The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.
Planning is a large part of the teaching process. Teachers must be able to adequately prepare for lessons by preparing lesson plans. Music educators along with all other kinds of educators have to follow a list of standards that we have to teach our students. As a part of every lesson a music teacher prepeares, the instructor needs to keep in mind the national standards that he or she is responsible for teaching the students.
I usually tend to think through a lot of different things and think up different scenarios for different outcomes, so when it comes to making a lesson plan I feel like I would be good at making one, and I have made a simple lesson plan in the past and felt my work was well done and the lesson went off just as I had planned it too with little tweaks here in there during the lesson.
Ball states music education programs do a great job of preparing their teachers for teaching. Evidence for this is that I am new to the music education program and I already have experience writing a lesson plan, and I know I am only going to continue through those courses learning how to build better lesson plans and staying organized in them so I am able to fulfill the national standards in each of my lessons.
